Openings in the shroud align with the feeding ports, providing birds to access the food. When a squirrel climbs into the feeder its weight automatically forces the shroud down, closing access to the feeding ports resulting in no harm to the squirrel. Black Oil Sunflower or Safflower seeds are recommended.
